You made this background? I must say that I really like the expressions of the Cutie Mark Crusaders. I also send a message to "Cutie Mark Crusaders" how I loved their new background. However, I do have to say that this background doesn't really like big screens. The screen size of my laptop is 1680x1050 pixels. The background is too small, so it crudely duplicates itself to fill up the space. The lines in the background look a bit broken and I can see Sweetie Belle's face twice. Not only that, Sweetie Belle's face is the only face I can really see because Scootaloo and Apple Bloom are covert with boxes (the questions and the sidebar). Only if I scroll down I can see Apple Bloom, but Scootaloo will always be covered by questions. I can see her on the Ask a Question page though, but I can't scroll down on that page, so I can't see Apple Bloom anymore.
This is a little problem in the design, but no big deal. It still doesn't look ugly on my screen. The Cutie Mark Crusaders are drawn nicely and the background is simple enough, so it isn't distracting. However, it also isn't empty, because of the lines in the background. It's still a great background, but it's just sad that it's greatness won't come to it's full potential on screens with higher resolutions.
It's OK. It's still a good background. To show you that I love it, I will add this to my favourites. I don't use this as a background for my computer though. It just looks strange on tumblr. This is how the "Ask the Crusaders" blog looks on my computer: [link]
I also told ask-thecrusaders of this, because I didn't know where else I could report this tiny mistake. I didn't tell him as detailed as I did to you and I told it in the form of a question for the crusaders (along with some other questions). I said I really liked the background, but it was strange that I only could see Sweetie's face. It's never my intension to make people look bad, so I am kind of sorry for pointing out the background mistake to ask-thecrusaders. I hope I didn't make you feel bad.
I also looked in your gallery. You draw great stuff. You use your own style for your work. Also characters that you draw feel like they are alive. That's because you give characters good expressions on their faces. Keep up the great work.
I think we can blame the background issues on Tumblr then. Then there is nothing that you have done wrong.
I tried to make this background fit on my screen with Phothoshop yesterday. However, after a while I started playing with Photoshop's tools and now the background looks a bit different. I thought it would be fair to share the image with it's original creator (I don't want to be an "art stealer"). [link] (JPG Image, 2MB, 1680x1050 pixels) I made it look like it's on canvas, however I do really like the simplicity of your original version, so I don't really consider this version as an improvement. I also don't think it really suits as a Tumblr background. It looks best as a background for your desktop. If you like it, I could make a version that fits on your screen. If you don't like it I can delete it again. I won't upload this to deviantArt.
